60 seconds with... Judy

From a Business degree to children's learning journeys, we interview Judy, one of 1st Place's Senior Early Educators. I really enjoy my job. I have been at 1st Place at Chumleigh Gardens for six years now. I used to be a Level 3 Early Educator but now I am a Senior Early Educator. This involves supervising staff and working alongside Bunmi Adams, the Early Education Manager, to ensure the smooth running of the nursery on a day-to-day basis.I have been in early years education for 10 years. The desire to work in early years has always been in me and I studied Early Childhood Studies as part of a joint degree in Business Studies. My first few jobs were through an agency and I gained a lot of valuable experience by working at different nurseries.I really wanted the job at 1st Place. The first time I came here, I immediately liked it. It was a purpose-built building with a large space and a children’s centre on site, which appealed to me. It seemed like a good place to work and I was right!1st Place nurseries are inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach. This puts children at the heart of the activity rather than it being adult led. This is part of what makes us unique.I love being part of our children’s learning journey. It is a joy to watch them develop and progress from one stage to another. In my spare time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family (I am happily married and have a three year old son), reading and travelling.
