Parent Outreach Worker

Salary: £33,309.00

Hours: 36 hours per week

  • 1st Place Family Hub are recruiting for a Parent Outreach worker. This is a 12-month fixed term contract, working within the Borough Bankside & Walworth area of Southwark.

    What does 1st Place stand for?

    Our aim is to give local parents and children the greatest possible chances in life. We are a Family Hub and Early Education provider, created to serve the needs of every local parent and child. We provide a range of services from ESOL courses, benefits advice, outstanding nursery education and free family activities to parenting support and training. As we are a charity, founded to support the local community, all surplus funds are invested in services and support for the improvement of families’ lives.

    The Role

    To identify and actively engage parents-to-be, parents and carers of children under 5 and 0-2 Parenting Support Work stream and Start for Life by locality area, to take up services and activities that would benefit them and their children.   

     

    • to establish and maintain communication with parents and carers of children under 5, to promote Family Hub key priorities and services to the local community

    • to support the staff team in the development of the Children & family Hub as a resource for local children and families.

    • To work in collaboration with the Southwark Parenting Team, to increase ‘self’ referrals into parenting programmes.

    • To be part of a Family Services team that delivers universal and targeted activities to improve outcomes for children and their families.

    • To take a collaborative approach to multi-agency partnerships so that children and family’s needs are met in a holistic way.

    • Support a locality parent and carer forum to ensure the voice of the local families is central to the development of services in locality. 

    • To lead on group sessions for children and families including outside of ordinary working hours and weekends from family Hubs and a range of community venues

    • To promote and facilitate access to the Family Hubs programme engaging parents focussing on fathers and male carers and their children with appropriate activities to meet their needs, particularly those identified as in need of additional support
