1st Place visits Reggio Emilia
Followinga successful application for European Union Erasmus+ funding last year todevelop future leadership capacity, a group of 1st Place staff undertook avisit to Reggio Emilia during closure week to observe models of leadership inearly years settings.
OurDirector, Early Education Trustee and the senior management team from all threenurseries visited Reggio Emilia (the birthplace of the educational philosophywhich influences the approach followed in 1st Place nurseries) and Parma. Hostedby the Sweden Emilia Romagna Network (SERN), our team visited primary, pre-schooland nursery settings based on farms as well as in urban areas.
The group were warmly welcomed by both staff and children, and paid a visit to the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre, a dedicated meeting place for professional development and research for those who wish to innovate in education and culture.

We lookforward to continuing to shape our practice using what we saw and experiencedduring our trip. Aspecial thank you to Sara Bonetti, one of our parents from 1st Place at CambridgeHouse who taught us some basic Italian before our trip!”
