Thing of the Week - Brrr… Explore the Cold!

As part of the launch of 50 Things in Southwark, we are focusing on 1 of the 50 activities in this amazing app. Next is ‘Brrr… Explore the Cold!’.

Children find snow, ice and cold weather really exciting. Using their senses, they truly discover and understand the world. Support your child in expanding their knowledge of the concept of ‘cold’ along with the language associated with these conditions such as ‘wet’ and ‘frozen’. Your child might be interested in exploring an ice cube or trying some snow play in winter. Some great books to read include ‘Mr Snow’ (Roger Hargreaves), ‘The Snowy Day’ (Ezra Jack Keats) and ‘One Snowy Night’ (Nick Butterworth).
