Thing of the Week - Dressing Up

#Thingoftheweek 15 Dressing up.png

As part of the launch of 50 Things in Southwark, we are focusing on 1 of the 50 activities in this amazing app. Next is ‘Dressing Up’.

This activity is about capturing your child’s imagination with everyday dress up play. Using clothes or objects at home, your child can pretend to be someone or something else, inspiring them to undertake pretend play.

Will they be a pirate, a doctor or a shopkeeper? Or it could simply be mummies and daddies. Whatever role they choose, you could even add props. For example, a crown for a pretend King or Queen for the day, or sticks wrapped in tinsel to act as a magical wand for a fairy. Remember, unwanted scarves, bags and coats can also be used - no need to buy new costumes. Don’t forget to take photos!

For more information on this activity including how to do it, the benefits, top tips and resources, download the free 50 Things app from Google Play or the Apple Store.
