Thing of the Week - Talking Signs

As part of the launch of 50 Things in Southwark, we are focusing on 1 of the 50 activities in this amazing app. Next is ‘Talking Signs’

The early use of signs and related symbols give visual clues to the meaning of words, questions and instructions.

Learning Basic signs related to simple words and actions such as food and drink can help children understand how to communicate, many children’s understanding develops before their speech so learning signs to communicate with you may help ease frustrations and tantrums.

Mr Tumble – ‘Something Special’ the CBeebies Tv show is a great resource, you can find resources and episodes on the CBeebies website and YouTube.
