Insects and Minibeasts

We have had so much fun learning about insects and minibeasts and their importance in the ecosystem over the last couple of weeks. .

The children have also been learning to recognise different insects, such as beetles, crickets, grasshoppers, and more by observing them in the garden and using insect toys during play activities.

We also celebrated the importance of insects and spider on the last day of Walk to School Week on Friday the 19th of May.  Parents and childlren made wings, legs and antennae out of recyclable materials for children to wear to nursery.

We also had lots of fun painting and making butterfly prints!

Meet Sofia

Sofía is a Mexican Fireleg Tarantula, she is a beloved pet of Kevin our Facilities Assistant at 1st Place. Despite what some people may think, she’s completely harmless, in fact she’s very delicate and you could do a lot more damage to her if not handled carefully. She might be making an appearance in the nursery next week for the children to see her.
