Make a bear hand print

This month, we are embracing the theme ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. Join us by trying this bear themed art activity.

What you need:

  • Paint - Don’t worry if you don’t have paint at home. Simply use 2 teaspoons of instant coffee and a splash of washing-up liquid, and mix to a smooth paste.

  • A paintbrush, a sponge, some cotton wool or a shallow bowl.

  • Paper.

  • A small lid or round object to draw around.

  • Scissors.

  • A pen.

Getting started:

  1. To create your bear’s body, use paint to cover your whole palm. To cover your palm, you can use a paintbrush, some cotton wool or a sponge. Alternatively, pour your paint into a shallow bowl and place your palm firmly into the paint. Allow your palm to dry.

  2. Use a pen and a piece of paper to create your bear’s head. On the paper, draw around a lid or small round object for the head, not forgetting to add some ears. Draw eyes, a nose and a mouth.

  3. Carefully cut out your bear head.

  4. Turn your palm print upside down so your fingers become the bear’s legs.

  5. Stick your bear’s head on top of where your thumb print is. You now have a bear!

We are very excited about this month’s theme and are hoping to use Zoom to connect with our families online. Watch out for our upcoming session on Zoom – details to follow!
