Tips for Toilet Training
Toilet training is a big milestone for both you and your little one, some toddlers take to it quickly, while others need more time and that’s perfectly okay! If you’re not sure when to start or how to manage it, here are some tips...
1. Look for Signs of Readiness
Not all toddlers are ready at the same age. Signs your child might be ready include staying dry for longer periods, showing interest in the toilet, or telling you when they need a nappy change.
2. Make It Fun and Positive
Let your child choose their own potty or special underwear. Use books or songs about potty time to make it engaging. Praise their efforts, even if they don’t succeed right away.

3. Set a Routine
Encourage your child to sit on the potty/toilet at regular times, such as after meals or before bed. Let them take their time and don’t force them to sit if they’re not interested.
4. Expect Accidents - they’re Normal!
It takes practice, and accidents will happen. Stay calm, reassure your child, and remind them to try again next time. Keep spare clothes handy when out and about and pack extra clothes for nursery.
5. Be Patient - Every Child is Different
Some toddlers train very quickly while others might take a while. Try to avoid comparing your child to others, every child develops at their own pace. If they’re struggling, take a break and try again later.
Toilet training is a journey, not a race. With patience, encouragement, and a relaxed approach, your little one will get there when they’re ready.
