Congratulations To Our Southwark Stars!

Congratulations, Maha & Sue, who were both awarded ‘Volunteer Champion’ at Southwark Stars.

Two of our 1st Place Rose Voucher volunteers attended Southwark Stars, Community Southwark’s annual event celebrating volunteers in Southwark. The event took place at Tate Modern, and this year we were thrilled that Maha Hosney and Susan Slaughter were awarded ‘Volunteer Champion’ certificates, in recognition of their excellent and ongoing support of our Rose Vouchers Project at 1st Place.  

Attending with Maha and Sue, to see them being recognised, were Ariela Cravitz, our Southwark Rose Vouchers Project Lead at 1st Place, and Assia Bellameche, another of our (newer!) Rose Voucher volunteers. Speeches were given by a range of people as awards were presented, including Sangeeta Leahy (Head of Public Health at Southwark Council), and the new Mayor of Southwark, Councillor Michael Situ. The event was fun, joyful, sometimes moving, and a wonderful reminder of the huge range of incredible groups, organisations and individuals supporting our communities in Southwark.
