Thing of the Week - My Secret Treasures

As part of the launch of 50 Things in Southwark, we are focusing on 1 of the 50 activities in this amazing app. Next is ‘My Secret Treasures’.

Children can make a collection of anything that excites them, storing them in a special box or basket that belongs to just them. Special things could be made up of random objects such as a toy dinosaur, a bouncy ball or even a pine cone. These treasures are ideal for sorting, exploring different materials or open ended play. Simply encourage your child to create, discover and problem solve.

Show your child that you value their special treasures including keeping them in a safe place. Talk to your child about their collection and introduce new words such as colours and size. You could even help them find new objects to add to their collection!
