Art is a great way to unleash your child's imagination. Follow our simple suggestions on how you can support your child's creativity at home:

What you will need:

  • A variety of recycledmaterials such as empty tissue tubes, newspaper, leaves, sticks and milkcontainers.
  • Paints, paintbrushes or paint rollers. Alternatively, why not introduce painting with unusualtools such as toothbrushes or potato mashers?
  • Objects for printingand stamping. No need to buy special stamps, why not try using sponges?

Activityideas:

  • Give your child the time and space to explore and create. Don’t worry about the end product, allow your child to really experience the process of creating art. Provide them with the materials and see where their imagination takes them!
  • Finger painting – Get messy with some simple finger painting. It not only allows your child to get creative but also encourages cognitive development and helps with fine motor skills.
  • Invite your child to explore paint their senses. Encourage them to experience the paint with their hands and ask them how it feels.
  • Let your child explore using different items. Test to see the difference between paint moving on rough and smooth paper, or ask your child to observe the marks that the paint makes using a thick brush and a thin brush.
