Extras for Healthy Start families

With Healthy Start, families can get free vouchers every week to spend on milk, fruit and vegetables (fresh, frozen and tinned), pulses (fresh, dried and tinned), and infant formula milk. In addition to this, three supermarket are now giving extras to families using Healthy Start vouchers in their stores:

  • Iceland will offer free frozen vegetables to families using Healthy Start Vouchers in its stores.

  • Tesco will give any family who use the weekly Healthy Start vouchers a £1 coupon to spend on fresh and frozen fruit and vegetables. Every time a customer hands over their vouchers at the checkout, they will automatically receive the money-off coupon to redeem off their next shop.

  • Central England Co-op will give all those who present Healthy Start vouchers in its stores an extra £1 to spend on vital food and essentials. This will mean that those that use the vouchers will see their allowance rise from £3.10 to £4.10 in Central England Co-op stores. Co-op have also committed to continue the scheme after the value of vouchers increased in April to £4.25, meaning families will have £5.25 to spend. To claim the extra £1, all people have to do is present their vouchers at the till point and the colleague will automatically add on the extra £1 on top of the vouchers supplies.
