15 and 30 Hours Free Childcare 

For eligible working families in England 

Currently available for children aged 2-4 years  

  • Up to 15 hours of funded early education over 38 weeks of the year for 2 year olds.  

  • Up to 30 hours of funded early education over 38 weeks of the year for 3-4 year olds. 

 

Upcoming changes  

Alongside the existing offers for 3 and 4 year olds the government is expanding childcare support.  

April 2024  

15 hours childcare for 38 weeks per year (up to 570 hours) for 2 year olds.  

September 2024  

15 hours childcare for 38 weeks per year (up to 570 hours) for children between 9 months and 23 months old.  

September 2025  

30 hours childcare for 38 weeks per year (up to 1,140 hours) for children between 9 months up to school age.  

Did you know?  

You can use your 15/30 hours alongside other childcare schemes such as Tax-Free Childcare or Universal Credit Childcare.
