Bringing more Reggio Emilia into our nursery

Remida.jpg

Inspired by our trip to Reggio Emilia earlier thisyear, we have made changes to 1st Place at Chumleigh Gardens to bring ournursery environment more in line with the Reggio Emilia approach.

This includes the introduction of a Remida at the entrance to the Piazza. Within Reggio Emilia, the Remida is a specially designed area that promotes the idea of waste materials being used as resources. The Remida provides a centre for resources and includes loose parts, cardboard, paper, containers and natural objects. We would welcome donations of any unwanted items and will provide parents with a list of the materials we need.

Our Atelier is also now located in a separate space at the end of the Piazza where children can work in small groups of four to five with an adult. There is a light box, a display shelf and there will be a computer for the children to use. To help improve the children’s interactions, we will be reshuffling key groups and will notify parents of any room or Key Person changes.
