Forest School Adventures: Muddy Boots & Curious Minds

Winter may have brought chilly winds and muddy boots, but that didn’t stop our Forest School adventures from thriving this term! The children have been embracing the great outdoors with curiosity and excitement, thanks to our incredible team who kept spirits high, no matter the weather.

One of the biggest hits this term? Fire-based activities! From learning to safely "feed" wood into a Kelly Kettle to toasting gooey marshmallows and cooking up hearty vegetable soup in a Dutch oven, these experiences sparked joy and built confidence. The thrill of gathering around the fire, feeling the warmth on cold days, and getting hands-on with nature made for unforgettable moments.

But Forest School is about so much more than just fun activities. It’s a place where children lead their own learning journeys, exploring the natural environment in ways that feel right for them. Whether climbing trees, building shelters, or problem-solving with friends, every moment outdoors is an opportunity to develop resilience, confidence, and a sense of achievement.

What makes Forest School so special is its focus on the process of learning — it’s about the "why" and "how," not just the "what." Regular time spent in wild spaces helps the children form meaningful connections with nature, nurturing a lifelong love and respect for the environment. As they grow, these experiences plant the seeds for sustainable attitudes and behaviours, shaping thoughtful, mindful citizens of the future.

We are so proud of everything the children have accomplished this term and can’t wait to see where their next outdoor adventures take them. Here’s to more muddy boots, roaring fires, and curious minds!
