1st Place works within the government guidance for early learning and childcare which is the Early Years Foundation Stage, however our approach is based on that used in Reggio Emilia in Italy. Although just a small town Reggio is renowned for its innovative approach to children’s learning. In the UK early education specialists have become increasingly interested in the Reggio principles and 1st Place hopes to be a leading centre inspired by this approach.
In accordance with the Reggio model 1st Place has employed an Atelierista/Artist Educator. Working alongside the Teacher and the Early Education team, her role is to encourage creativity throughout the centre and to develop creative projects with the children. You will see the development of these projects displayed throughout the centre.
With the entire 1st Place team committed to the development of the Reggio approach, we hope to develop and share our learning and to make 1st Place a national model of excellence.
